Scholarship

The scholarships come in a variety of shapes and sizes in higher education sector. There are countless reasons a student would have to apply for financial aid or receive gifted funding. Scholarships provide an opportunity for many people to earn an education. Without assistance from an outside source, students may have trouble paying for the degree they need in order to enter the workforce and become a contributing member of society. A large number of scholarships have been instituted those who belonging to the less privileged ‎sections of society to fulfill their educational aspirations. 1.   Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities
The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability.

2.   Post Matric Scholarships for students with disabilities
Scholarship under the scheme shall be available for studying bachelor’s degree or diploma in India and master’s degree/diploma from any university recognized by UGC/AICTE.

3.   Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the results of Senior Secondary Examination. 82000 fresh scholarships per annum [41000 for boys and 41000 for girls] are awarded for pursuing graduate / postgraduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as Medical, Engineering etc.

4.    State Merit Scholarship
This scholarship assigned for the first-year student of Under Graduate or Post Graduate course in Govt/ Aided colleges or University Departments, who have scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination and their Family annual income should not exceed 1 Lakh. 5.    Muslim Nadar Girl’s Scholarship
This scholarship is for girls’ students perusing first year of HSC/VHSC and under graduate course in Govt/Aided Arts and science college, should belong to forward of BPL family and backward community.

6.      Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship
The scholarship is eligible for first year students of Under Graduate or Post Graduate course in Govt/ Aided colleges or University Departments, who belongs to BPL family and scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination

7.       Blind / PH Scholarship
The scholarship is exclusively for blind/PH/deaf students studying in Govt/Aided Arts and Science Colleges, Music Colleges, and Govt/Aided Higher Secondary/Vocational Higher Secondary Schools.

8.    Muslim Girls Scholarship
This scholarship is for all girl students pursuing first year UG/PG/Professional courses belongs to Muslim / Latin/Christian/ Converted Christian category only.

9.     Merit Scholarship to the Children of School Teachers

10.   Aspire Scholarship
The government of Kerala has introduced Aspire Scholarship to provide opportunities to pursue short term internship/project in institution other than their parent colleges/university departments. Only PG/ M.Phil. /Ph.D. students of university/ and affiliated colleges can apply.

11.   Kerala State Higher Education Council Scholarship
The higher education council, government of Kerala offers scholarship to student studying first year’s undergraduate courses in Government / Aided Arts and Science colleges affiliated to any universities in Kerala.

12.Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award
This scholarship is instituted by the department of Minority Welfare, Govt. of Kerala to meritorious U.G./P.G. students belongs to the B.P.L. (below the poverty line) families of minority religion.

13.      Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child
Grants Commission is introducing Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child from girl students of up to 30 years of age who happen to be the only girl child in their families. The scholarship aims to promote girl education and compensate for the direct costs of girl education to all levels.

14.       Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students
The Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students is formulated and funded by Ministry of Minority Affairs. The scheme is open to candidates who belong to one of the Minority Community i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian & Jain and are pursuing higher studies such as regular and full time M.Phil. /Ph.D. degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology. The reservation for differently abled students shall be made as per provision laid down by the Government of India.

16.       Indian Council for Cultural Relations Scholarships
Indian Council for Cultural Relations with a mandate of administering scholarship programmes of Government of India annually awards about 3940 scholarship under 26 different schemes to foreign students from about 140 counties. Amongst these 23 schemes, six are funded by ICCR from its’ own grant and others are administered on behalf of MEA and Ministry of Ayush. The courses offered for studies are for under-graduation, post-graduation and M. Phil /PhD levels. In every academic year ICCR holds about 6000 + foreign students who are studying at various Central/States University, Institutes, NITs and Agricultural Institutions etc.
